Bedding hyacinths will thrive in a wide range of soils, provided there is good drainage. They prefer sunshine but will have longer-lasting flowers if planted in partial shade. Suitable for beds, borders, and containers, their fragrant blooms are ideal for planting near doors, windows, or pathways.
They reach a flowering height of 25 cm (10 inches) and should be planted at a depth of 15 cm (6 inches) and spaced 15 cm (6 inches) apart. The best planting time is from August onwards.
