Crocus will grow in a wide range of soils, provided there is good drainage. They prefer sunshine but will last longer in partial shade. Ideal for naturalising—where they can be left to flower year after year—crocus are suitable for rockeries, between shrubs, and in any type of container.
They have a flowering height of 10 cm (4 inches) and should be planted at a depth of 5 cm (2 inches) and spaced 10 cm (4 inches) apart. The best planting time is from July onwards.
