Irises thrive in full sun or partial shade and prefer open soil with plenty of humus and good drainage. They naturalise well in rockeries, at the edges of borders, and in containers.
They have a flowering height of 10 cm (4 inches) and should be planted at a depth of 5 cm (2 inches) and spaced 5 cm (2 inches) apart. The best planting time is from August onwards.
