- Each neat, round plant has frilled, deeply cut leaves heavily marked with red.
- Sow outdoors thinly where they are to crop, 1.5cm (½”) deep, directly into finely prepared soil which has already been watered. Allow 25cm (10”) between rows. Early sowings may benefit from cloche protection. Seedlings usually appear in 7-14 days. Thin out to 20cm (8”) apart. No thinning is necessary if only baby leaves are required.
- Water well until plants are established. Regular sowings made every two to three weeks will ensure a continuous supply. Cut a few leaves from each plant, perfect for baby leaf style salads, they will grow back for up to four cuts. Cut the whole heads of mature plants.
