Westland Orchid Potting Mix is a dry, free-draining, peat free mix that prevents over watering and deters flies for healthier, happier orchids. Orchids love being in a mix that lets water run past their roots instead of sitting in a waterlogged pot, so this mix is perfect.  Added zinc complex promotes more root growth into your new potting mix, faster re-potting establishment, and also boosts plant resilience.  It is rich in pine bark to create the perfect balance of aeration and drainage for healthy root development.

How to pot and re-pot?

Repot any time of the year; spring is an ideal time during the growing season.

1. The first step is to find a new pot, choose one with just enough room for the roots and fill one third of pot with potting mix.
2. Remove dead and shrivelled roots but leave potting mix attached to healthy plump white roots.
3. Place the orchid in the pot and carefully spread out the roots. Gently hold the plant by its stem and fill around the roots. Tap the pot to settle the potting mix – do not firm down.
4. Top tips – Orchids may need anchoring in the pot with a stick or with wire. Re-pot just after flowering or during the period when new growth and new roots appear.
